Work With Us

Advisory Board Overview

The We Are ILL Advisory Board presents a distinctive opportunity for our Corporate Members (pharmaceutical partners) to actively engage in essential dialogues involving patient advocates, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and other individuals dedicated to the transformative influence of listening as a foundational element of care. Our initiative is dedicated to cultivating a culture of attentive understanding, aiming to elevate the well-being of our community, with a specific emphasis on Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Lupus, and Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD). WAI is working towards establishing an Advisory Board, comprising representatives from patient organizations operating in the aforementioned domains. We aspire to collaborate with patient advocates, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and others to gather valuable insights on tone, messaging, cultural competence, and more, specifically on MS-, Lupus-, and NMOSD-focused initiatives.

Advisory Board Membership

As a participant in the Advisory Board, you will assume a crucial role in shaping initiatives that foster empathetic and impactful communication. Your insights will play a vital role in offering constructive feedback across various dimensions, encompassing tone, messaging, and cultural competence. Collaborating with We Are ILL provides you with the opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of initiatives tailored to address MS, Lupus, and NMOSD, with authenticity and sensitivity. The WAI Advisory Board will be comprised of individuals representing key patient organizations, chosen for their expertise in the abovementioned focus areas. Membership is exclusively by invitation, not open to the public. Members will be engaged by WAI on an annual basis, with participation being entirely voluntary, allowing members the flexibility to opt in or out of Board membership at their discretion.

Time Commitment

The We Are ILL Advisory Board will be initiated in March 2026 and conclude in October 2026. Throughout the year, members will be asked to participate in virtual activities, including virtual meetings, offline review of materials, and moderated virtual forums. WAI will engage Members for about 20 hours throughout the 7 months. Advisors will participate in no more than 12 hours of material review at their own pace, to review content and respond to questions. Advisors will meet virtually, as a group, three to four times throughout the year. Time estimates are subject to change, with the understanding that advisors may choose to dedicate additional time to material review. Advisors can withdraw from the Advisory Board at any time or decline to participate in specific activities if conflicts arise. There will be 4 Listening Labs, 90-minute virtual meetings, held in 2026 with dates to be determined.

Compensation

Advisory board members will receive a $200 honorarium per Listening Lab event for all permitted services performed, including prework, offline review, forum engagement, virtual meeting participation, and any additional tasks requested by We Are ILL.
