signature prgrams

At We Are ILL, our signature programs are built for Black women living with MS and Lupus — and the people who love them. This year, we’re meeting our community where healing actually happens: in honest conversation, in shared stories, in spaces where who you are — your beliefs, your culture, your daily struggle — is understood without you having to explain it. From a year‑round virtual membership community, to culturally relevant wellness and self‑advocacy training, to deep‑dive education on relapses and Lupus, to a series and signature event made just for the people walking beside you — every program is rooted in one belief: You deserve to be informed, supported, and seen. Welcome in.

Beyond ILL Membership Community 2026

This isn’t just another group. Beyond ILL is a living, breathing community of chronically ill women who know what it means to fight for your health and your joy — women who get your faith, your flavor, and your fight. It’s where you can be soft and strong, vulnerable and celebrated, sometimes on the same day. Year‑round virtual connection, real support, practical disease‑management tools, and the kind of understanding no app can give you. Black women living with MS or Lupus — and the loved ones beside them — find a place to exhale, be real, and be seen.

Empowering Black Women with MS & Lupus: A Wellness & Self‑Advocacy Project

Empowering Black Women with MS & Lupus

After serving 50 Black women in Atlanta, this program is growing — now in partnership with Shepherd Center and Wellstar Health System. Across four virtual modules, you’ll sit with neurologists, rheumatologists, nurses, and case managers, plus licensed mental health professionals, in spaces built for how MS and Lupus actually show up in our lives. Through peer connection, emotional wellness tools, and real talk on navigating the system, you’ll walk away with the clarity and confidence to lead your own care — and feel a whole lot less alone doing it.

Understanding and Managing Relapses

Understanding and Managing Relapses

What counts as a true relapse — and what doesn’t? This virtual series clears up one of the most confusing parts of MS, including “smoldering” progression that builds quietly between flares, and what sets relapsing MS apart from PPMS. A neurologist and MS patient advocate break it down together with clear analogies, downloadable tools, and live Q&A — all centered on Black women. You’ll learn to track changes, manage symptoms like fatigue and pain, and walk into your next appointment knowing exactly what to ask. Knowledge that puts you back in the driver’s seat.

This Is Lupus: The Reality for Black Women

This Is Lupus: The Reality for Black Women

Lupus shows up differently in Black women’s bodies — and too often, in our medical journeys too. This powerful virtual experience pairs the lived truth of Black women living with Lupus with insight from a rheumatology expert to close the gaps in understanding, diagnosis, and daily life. Learn the early warning signs, make sense of the labs and the long road to diagnosis, and understand why we built a space that says: You belong here. Because knowing what’s happening in your body is the first step to advocating for it.

Love in Action: Supporting Someone I Love

Love in Action: Supporting Someone I Love

The people who walk beside us carry something too. Love in Action is a two‑part virtual series for spouses, partners, siblings, friends, and chosen family supporting someone with MS or lupus. Built from real caregiver feedback at Wellness Week(end), it centers the support partner — affirming your strength while handing you practical tools for the medical, emotional, and everyday challenges. Build disease literacy, sharpen your advocacy, and find sustainable ways to keep showing up. Because loving someone through chronic illness shouldn’t mean doing it alone.
